Nàng tìm lại ngôi trường Đại học của mình, len lén lên văn phòng mà cứ thấy ngại ngùng sợ bạn bè cùng lớp nhìn thấy. Nhận được một bảng hướng dẫn và lời khuyên hãy chờ đến mùa khai trường năm sau.
Mùa đông Hà Nội lạnh se sắt, nàng lang thang trên những vỉa hè xám ngoét. Phiêu diêu đơn độc giữa một biển người. Phải chờ đợi đến tận mùa thu, nàng biết làm gì đây? Chẳng lẽ chỉ rong chơi? Liệu đến lúc đó dự định của nàng lại có bị mài mòn đi không? Nàng vốn biết mình dễ nản chí. Nên có lẽ nàng không chờ đợi được. Mùa thu còn xa ngái.
Nàng tìm hiểu về những khóa học kế toán và đăng ký một lớp. Tự nhủ sẽ cố gắng học thật chăm chỉ. Tuổi thọ của nghề làm đĩ ngắn ngủi chỉ tày vòng đời của một cánh bướm phù phiếm mà thôi.

Liên tục những ngày sau đó, buổi nào màn hình di động của nàng cũng sáng lên số điện thoại lạ đó. Anh ta gấp gáp và kiên trì. Thôi được sẽ gặp một lần cho biết mặt nhau vậy.
Người đàn ông đó thấp hơn nàng một chút, khuôn mặt ra vẻ hiền lành và chân thành. Anh ta quản trị một công ty cổ phần chuyên về xuất nhập khẩu, từ Sài Gòn ra công tác, sẽ lưu trú lại khoảng một tháng. Nói chuyện với anh ta nàng mới biết về [Đàn ông có vợ 3] là một cán bộ hải quan, và giữa họ có những mối giao hảo làm ăn. Xuất nhập khẩu và hải quan, nếu không thân sẽ tồn tại nhiêu khê, trở ngại.
Người mới quen, nàng đặt tên theo cách gọi của mình: [Đàn ông có vợ 4]
Hạn mức một tháng công tác của [Đàn ông có vợ 4] cận ngày trở về. Trong suốt thời gian đó, tối nào nàng không bận đi học đều gặp gỡ anh ta cả. Anh ta dẫn nàng đi theo trong các cuộc gặp gỡ khách hàng ở những không gian sang trọng, hướng dẫn nàng cung cách ứng xử lịch sự trong giao tế, kể về văn minh phương Tây – nơi anh ta đã có vài năm đi học MBA hay gì đó, đôi lúc anh ta thuyết giảng cho nàng về những lý luận kinh tế và những xu hướng thương mại đang bùng nổ hoặc sắp trỗi dậy. Nàng thấy mình học hỏi được thật nhiều từ người đàn ông đó. Mỗi lần nàng gặp một người mới, anh ta giới thiệu nàng là em họ cũng là người hướng dẫn cho anh ta ở mảnh đất không phải thổ địa của mình. Nàng hồn nhiên đóng vai một cô em lanh lợi và không để có bất cứ một động chạm nhỏ nào với [Đàn ông có vợ 4] cả. Trời sinh ra nàng vốn là một người đoan trang và nghiêm túc. Mang trong lòng mặc cảm về thân phận đĩ điếm chỉ do tạo hóa trêu ngươi. Cho đến một buổi sáng nàng online trong dịch vụ café internet, [Đàn ông có vợ 3] nhảy xổ vào nick của nàng:
- Dạo này đi với bạn anh vui nhỉ? Bạn anh cứ khen em xinh mãi.
- Vậy sao?
- Anh nói: bạn tôi ai mà chả xinh. À, có một chuyện bạn anh muốn hỏi em nhưng mà ngại nói… nên nhờ anh hỏi hộ.
- Chuyện gì vậy?
- Hì hì… Chuyện ấy ấy. Bạn anh nhờ anh hỏi em rằng: liệu bạn anh có thể thân mật với em được không?
- Đừng bao giờ nói chuyện như thế với em thêm một lần nữa.
Nàng nóng bừng mặt, mạnh tay nhấn Ctrl + D, hậm hực đứng dậy trả tiền Net rồi trở về căn phòng của mình, đóng cửa ngồi thu lu giữa những mảng xám tối. Nàng cũng không hiểu mình nghĩ gì nữa, đầu óc mê mải cho đến tàn ngày.
Buổi tối, nàng gặp [Đàn ông có vợ 4] theo lời hẹn từ trước. Café và nghe ghita ở 333 Kim Mã. Nàng với ánh nhìn khó hiểu cứ xói vào khuôn mặt bối rối của anh ta. Cuối cùng nàng bứt ra khỏi những gượng gạo, hồ nghi hỏi một cách thẳng thừng, đầy sức nặng:
- Anh quen em với mục đích gì?
[Đàn ông có vợ 4] khá mất bình tĩnh, lúng túng nhưng cố nói nhanh qua quýt:
- Không có mục đích gì cả! Thêm một người bạn là bớt đi một kẻ thù trong cuộc sống đúng không em?
- Em hỏi thế thôi! Chứ em biết anh muốn gì ở em… nhưng em muốn khẳng định rằng nếu anh còn giữ ý định đó thì đừng gặp em nữa.
Không biết [Đàn ông có vợ 4] có nghĩ nàng đang làm màu? Bất cần, nàng nhất định sẽ giải tán tình bạn với anh ta nếu như có một chút biểu hiện xấu nào làm tổn thương đến lòng tự trọng của nàng. Anh ta hứa hẹn muốn xây dựng một tình bạn tốt, bởi vì rất quý mến một con người có tâm hồn như nàng, anh ta sẽ cố gắng thực sự coi nàng như một cô em gái.
Ngày cuối cùng, nàng tiễn anh ta ra sân bay như những người bạn thân thiết chí tình với nhau. Nàng cũng chẳng nghĩ ngợi gì nhiều nữa. Anh ta ở tận Sài Gòn, công tác Hà Nội họa hoằn một năm vài chuyến, bạn tốt hay không cũng chẳng ảnh hưởng gì nhiều đến cuộc sống của nàng.
[Đàn ông có vợ 4] chăm chỉ gọi điện cho nàng từ phương Nam, hỏi chuyện cuộc sống, học hành, sức khỏe,… Thỉnh thoảng anh ta thông báo có bạn ra Hà Nội công tác nên gửi quà cho nàng. Quà của anh ta là những thứ rất giản đơn nhưng chưa hề xuất hiện trong các cửa hàng ở Việt Nam. Vì đó là những thứ được đối tác nước ngoài mang sang chào hàng mong anh ta nhập khẩu về kinh doanh. Từ những chiếc vòng tay ngồ ngộ đến những chai dầu thơm, hay chỉ là một chiếc móc đeo điện thoại nhỏ xinh, thậm chí chỉ là một bánh xà bông tanh tanh mùi biển anh ta cũng gửi cho nàng, rồi cả những quyển sách về kinh tế, thương mại anh ta khuyên nàng nên đọc nữa. Thực sự nàng thích được quan tâm như thế, dù rằng biết người ta tốt với mình có mục đích.
Ba tháng sau, nàng gặp lại [Đàn ông có vợ 4]. Chuyến công tác lần này chỉ kéo dài một tuần. Ngày đầu tiên nàng cùng với anh ta và [Đàn ông có vợ 3] đi ăn tối trong một nhà hàng Nhật trên phố Bà Triệu.
Phòng VIP kín đáo ấm cúng. [Đàn ông có vợ 3] bẹo má nàng, nham nhở: “Em làm bạn anh buồn lắm nhé!”. [Đàn ông có vợ 4] cố thản nhiên theo cách giả tạo, mặt hơi biến sắc. Nàng chỉ lặng im, thoang thoảng điệu cười nhạt, ăn uống một cách thờ ơ. Nàng thấy mình cần phải kiêu sa với hai người đàn ông này. Rõ ràng giữa họ đang có một toan tính gì đó về nàng.
Lúc chia tay trước cửa khách sạn nơi [Đàn ông có vợ 4] lưu trú, anh ta khẩn khoản nhìn nàng: “Em ghé lên phòng anh chơi một chút được không?”. Nàng thản nhiên: “Muộn rồi em phải về!”. Vẻ mặt anh ta đầy khổ sở tiễn nàng lên taxi. Một chút gì đó day dứt trong lòng trên quãng đường nàng trở về căn phòng trọ tối thẫm của mình.
Cuối tuần, [Đàn ông có vợ 4] dẫn nàng đến Hoa Viên gặp một người đàn ông có đôi mắt biết cười đầy vẻ thân thiện. Nàng vẫn đóng vai là cô em họ ngoan ngoãn, còn người đàn ông kia là giám đốc một công ty phát triển nhân lực. Nghe nói công ty ông ta đang cần tuyển một chân thư ký văn phòng, nên [Đàn ông có vợ 4] tận dụng mối quan hệ bạn bè giúp đỡ cho nàng một chỗ làm. Nàng được test về khiếu giao tiếp ngay trên bàn tiệc với background là những lời khen ngợi của người gửi gắm. Tàn tiệc, đôi mắt biết cười nheo nheo nhìn nàng đầy hứa hẹn: “Sáng thứ 2 qua công ty anh làm việc với nhân sự nhé!”, nàng duyên dáng nhận namecard của ông ta, gương mặt tràn niềm vui.
Tối đó [Đàn ông có vợ 4] nằn nì nàng ghé qua khách sạn giúp anh ta dọn đồ đạc để sáng sớm mai khứ hồi về Sài Gòn. Anh ta tốt với nàng, anh ta cũng đã nhẫn mình giữ phép lịch sự bao lâu nay, hơn nữa anh ta vừa kiếm cho nàng một chỗ làm trong khi nàng không hề có một thứ bằng cấp nào lưu nơi hồ sơ. Miễn cưỡng nàng theo chân anh ta vào khách sạn…
Dĩ nhiên đêm đó nàng ở lại luôn phòng của anh ta, với một thái độ ngơ ngác, tránh né lúc ban đầu. Nhưng một người đàn ông chứa sẵn dã tâm tình dục và một người đàn bà từng trải sành sỏi chung thân trên một chiếc giường thì không tránh khỏi chuyện quan hệ. Anh ta chật vật tiếp cận nàng cho đến hơn 2h sáng và định hồn nhiên đi vào nàng mà không cần bất cứ một màng chắn nào cả.
Nàng quan niệm: tình dục là một mảng trần trụi của tình yêu, nàng chưa bao giờ có nhu cầu giải tỏa sinh lý, bởi nàng chưa bao giờ yêu thật sự để cảm nhận được hoan lạc của gối chăn. Nàng chỉ biết căng mình ra chịu đựng vài ba người đàn ông đã ngang qua thời xuân sắc. Mỗi lần have sex với bất cứ ai, thấy tâm hồn chai sạn ít nhiều, nhân phẩm bị mài mòn đi một chút, và nàng cảm giác mình xạm màu đi, bẩn đục. Đàn ông trên giường chỉ biết tìm cách phóng ra, còn người đàn bà lại hứng nhận tất cả, như từng lớp cặn nhức nhối đóng dấu thân phận. Nên nàng nhất định không quan hệ tình dục với bất cứ ai nếu như anh ta không chịu mặc áo mưa. Ý nghĩ của nàng lúc đó đơn thuần là: cơ thể mình chỉ phải tiếp xúc với cái bao cao su mà thôi.
Nàng đẩy [Đàn ông có vợ 4] ra và nhắc sử dụng comdom. Anh ta thật thà nói rằng mình không hề chuẩn bị trước. Nàng nghiêm mặt trong bóng tối: “Em không phải là vợ anh, đừng đặt bất cứ niềm tin gì lên một con người như em cả!”. Anh ta bao biện đã quá khuya để đi mua mà gọi xuống lễ tân thì ngại. Có lẽ sĩ diện của anh ra rất lớn, dù đang thực hiện hành vi ngoại tình song vẫn muốn được người khác tôn trọng. Nàng đứng dậy bật điện lên và thản nhiên bấm số điện thoại gọi xuống lễ tân: “… Cảm phiền mang giúp lên phòng bao cao su được không ạ?”. Vài phút sau có tiếng gõ cửa, anh ta cầm sẵn 20K hé cửa chìa ra cho người phục vụ và cầm vào 2 cái OK.
[Đàn ông có vợ 4] hẳn lại là một dân đen trong vương quốc khoái lạc. Anh ta cũng chỉ nhẹ nhàng trườn trên người nàng vài nhịp là đã xong nghĩa vụ đàn ông. Vệ sinh xong, nàng nhận được một chỉ báo: “Lúc ngủ anh phải nằm riêng ra một chỗ, nếu có ai động vào người thì anh không ngủ nổi”. Nàng vô cảm với câu trả lời của mình: “Em cũng thế!” rồi chìm vào cơn ngủ nhập nhằng.
Thêm một người đàn ông nữa ngoại tình nhờ nàng. Trong những cuộc đối thoại với bạn bè, khách hàng, nàng vẫn nghe thấy anh ta khoe về gia đình yên ấm, trí thức của mình. Nhưng anh ta vẫn phản bội vợ như những gã đàn ông vong tình, phũ phàng nơi cõi nhân gian. Đã là đàn ông, có ai khác ai?
Trời sáng, trên đường tiễn anh ta ra sân bay, nàng khơi chuyện về lòng thủy chung của những người đàn ông có gia đình:
- Anh biết: Đàn ông chung thủy và đàn ông không chung thủy khác nhau ở điểm nào không?
- Anh không biết!
- Em đọc trong một quyển truyện cười, người ta nói rằng: Người đàn ông chung thủy thì biết hối hận sau khi ngoại tình. Em nghĩ đó là điểm khác nhau đấy!
- Vậy thì có thể anh là người chung thủy, vì anh đang cảm thấy hối hận… – anh ta lãng đãng nhìn những ra những khung cảnh trôi tuột lại phía sau qua ô kính xe. Nàng khoanh tay trước ngực, mắt hướng thẳng về con đường đang ngắn lại ở phía trước.
Check in xong, [Đàn ông có vợ 4] kéo nàng ra một hàng ghế bịn rịn chia tay. Anh ta móc ví lấy ra một triệu đưa cho nàng, nói để đi taxi về. Trong đó hiển nhiên có cả số tiền anh ta trả cho việc nàng đã chấp nhận qua đêm cùng. Nàng không từ chối, cầm số tiền như một sự tất yếu. Bởi nếu không, sẽ tồn tại cảm giác lưu luyến mắc nợ. Nàng không thích vương tình cho bất cứ ai nữa. Nhất là với loại đàn ông đã có gia đình.
[Đàn ông có vợ 4] đi rồi, nàng để dành ngày chủ nhật đi sắm bộ đồ công sở và những trang bị cần thiết cho một cô nhân viên văn phòng. Người ta chỉ trả cho nàng triệu rưỡi một tháng, nhưng đó sẽ là những đồng tiền do chính sự lao động của nàng tạo ra. Chắc chắn tỉ giá của nó sẽ cao gấp trăm lần so với tiền của những người đàn ông có vợ.
[Đàn ông có vợ 3] gọi điện chúc mừng nàng có công việc mới và hỏi một câu vô cùng xóc xỉa: “Bạn anh có tuyệt không?”. Nàng cắt ngang cuộc gọi bằng một cái bấm thô lỗ lên phím đỏ của chiếc di động. Anh ta tốt với nàng thật đấy, nhưng nàng không thích sự cợt nhả. Huống hồ việc nàng rơi vào tay [Đàn ông có vợ 4] giống như một thương vụ, mà anh ta là kẻ dự phần với vai trò đối tác chiến lược. Nếu có thể nàng muốn sẽ không bao giờ gặp lại [Đàn ông có vợ 3] nữa.
Nhân phẩm của nàng, không phải là thứ tài nguyên vô tận. Nàng sợ một ngày nó cạn kiệt mình sẽ không biết bám víu vào đâu nữa. Chính vì sự dè sẻn đó, nàng mới tự coi mình là: Một – Con – Đĩ – Không – Yêu – Nghề.
