Khối cầu thứ 2: Cuộc sống trong lòng đất
Lòng trái đất chu trình thứ 21.101.983 rỗng như ruột quả bóng chạy cho hamter tập thể dục. Kiến trúc kỳ lạ và bất biến từ ngàn xưa với hai ngọn núi băng và lửa hùng vỹ đối đỉnh đã đem lại sự sống cho 99.990 cá thể của Linh tộc. Một tộc người kỳ lạ, với lớp da nâu đồng ánh kim chào đời trong diện mạo già nua mẫn tiệp, sau đó dần trẻ hoá cho đến khi sơ tử thì lại nhỏ bé và tan thành những giọt nước trong veo.
Ở thế giới Linh tộc, cuộc đời mỗi người có thể dài ngắn theo những cuộc hành trình, nhưng dân số không hề đổi thay sau hơn hai mươi triệu vòng quay. Cứ mỗi khi một cá thể của Linh tộc nhỏ lại, trí não trở nên vô minh, họ sẽ được đồng loại tri ân bằng cách đưa đến núi băng để chờ giây phút trút hơi thở cuối cùng. Trong điện thờ Băng Linh, những thể xác bé mọn mỏng manh dần trở nên trong suốt rồi hoá thân thành trăm ngàn giọt sương li ti bay về phía Băng Nguyên để nhập vào lịch sử ngàn đời của Linh Tộc.
Cùng lúc ấy, ở phía bên kia, trong lòng núi lửa, giữa cung điện Hoả Linh, những người may mắn ngang qua sẽ được chào đón thành viên thay thế, đem lại kỳ vọng về khả năng khám phá mới cho Linh Tộc. Bởi thế, trong lõi đất sâu, Linh nhân nào càng giữ được hình dáng trẻ trung lâu dài, có thể lại chính là một kho tàng đáng quý chứa đựng rất nhiều kinh nghiệm và cống hiến.
Lúc này, Anme đang bước vào điện thờ Hỏa Linh, màu đỏ rực trên mái vòm báo hiệu cách nửa vòng Linh đạo, xác thân của thành viên thứ 99.990 đang trở nên nhẹ bẫng và lạnh băng. Anme đã nhiều lần đứng lặng dưới cảnh tượng Băng Nguyên tỏa ra quầng sáng trắng, nhìn cơ thể của người sắp lìa đời cũng lóe sáng theo hiệu ứng từ cõi tử, trước lúc tan thành thứ chất lỏng lấp lánh và nhập vào vòng hào quang tuyết băng tinh khiết. Đồng nhất trong khoảnh khắc ánh sáng trắng dịu lại, trả về cho điện băng khô lạnh bầu không khí tĩnh tại, thì vòm lửa tại Hỏa Linh sẽ phun một suối lửa rực rỡ xuống đài Hiện Sinh ở tâm điện. Thời gian một phần tám chu trình qua đi, dòng thác lửa đỏ rực sẽ dần nhạt màu và ngừng tuôn chảy. Mái vòm trở lại màu vàng cam dịu nhẹ, không còn rừng rực năng lực tái sinh, vì Linh nhân mới đã hoàn diện, mở mắt, bước ra khỏi đài hiện sinh, tiến về phía bức tường Dấu Ấn được kiến tạo bằng thảm lửa xanh lam và viết tên mình lên trên đó. Tên của thành viên mới sẽ được bức tường lửa lưu giữ để 99.989 người còn lại của Linh Tộc đi ngang qua đều biết về sự kiện tái sinh này. Cho đến khi lại có một cá thể khác qua đời, và chủ nhân của cái tên đó trở thành người cũ, thì bức tường sẽ hoàn nguyên, để viết vào một cái tên mới.
Anme không muốn bỏ lỡ cơ hội chào đón thành viên mới, nên đã nán lại ở điện thờ Hỏa Linh từ lúc lửa trên mái vòm bắt đầu ửng đỏ, cho đến khi cái tên Hoàng Minh in đậm trên bức tường, thì cô tiến đến bên cạnh lão nhi còn đang khá run rẩy làm một biểu hiện chào đón thân ái.
Lão nhi Hoàng Minh nhìn Anme nở nụ cười, cơ thể màu nâu đồng chuyển sắc cam bộc lộ trạng thái sẵn lòng chuyển giao nhận thức. Anme đứng đối mặt với Hoàng Minh, hai người cùng thực hiện tư thế kết nối, tay phải đặt trước ngực, tay trái chạm lên thái dương của đối phương. Trong tích tắc, những gì họ muốn chia sẻ, hòa nhập thành một mạch điện trí tuệ lan tỏa khắp các nơ ron thần kinh của hai người.

Ký ức của Anme chạy ngược về thời điểm cô bước xuống từ đài hiện sinh, đã trải dài hơn bảy vạn chu trình. Từ đó đến nay, vài trăm lần cô may mắn đến được Hỏa Linh điện đúng lúc tái tạo hình hài của Linh nhân thay thế. Mỗi người đem đến cho Anme một nhận thức mới, về thế giới xa xôi được phân chia làm hai phần sáng tối, đổi thay không ngừng trong không gian rộng lớn, hun hút khoảng trống phía trên.
Thế giới ấy nằm đâu đó ngoài nhịp sống của Linh Tộc, nó rực rỡ sắc màu, ồn ào thanh âm và tràn ngập những gương mặt bạc phếch kỳ dị. Chủng loài mang hình thể người làm chủ và được sống theo ý muốn, tự do làm những gì mình thích, dù từng nhóm nhỏ có quy chuẩn, nhưng không nhất thiết phải ràng buộc vào bất cứ sứ mệnh vô hình lớn lao nào.
Nhận thức Anme mang đến thế giới trong lòng đất, là phía cuộc sống chỉ hiện diện nơi trí não toàn thể Linh Tộc có một giống loài khác, tồn tại ngược đời với dân tộc mình. Họ sinh sôi bằng cách kết đôi, cuộc đời bắt đầu từ non trẻ yếu ớt, cho đến khi trưởng thành thì cao lớn rắn rỏi, và chết đi trong trạng thái già nua rệu rã. Giống loài đó tự gọi là Nhân Loại, không bị giới hạn số lượng, nên từ những điều Anme biết thủa mới mẻ khi dân số của họ khoảng một tỷ, cho đến hiện tại, sau hơn bảy vạn chu trình – với tri thức cập nhật từ Hoàng Minh – số lượng Nhân Loại đã tăng gấp bảy lần, quả nhiên là một quá trình phát triển thần tốc.
Song Nhân Loại không chỉ thay đổi về quy mô dân số, cuộc sống của họ đã khác đi rất nhiều. Vật chất màu xanh dần thu hẹp nhường chỗ cho những vật thể nhân tạo lạ lùng, khiến bản thân Nhân Loại vướng vào cuộc tranh cãi nội tại không phân định nổi biến đổi là tốt hay xấu. Nhưng ở phương diện tiện nghi, rõ ràng Nhân Loại đã tạo được những bước đi thần kỳ, khi họ có thể di chuyển từ nơi này qua nơi khác cực nhanh mà không cần phải bước từng bước trên chính đôi chân của mình.

Trong dòng tri thức tiếp nhận từ Anme, Hoàng Minh – trong diện mạo một ông già, biết được rằng những con người được sinh ra trong thế giới Linh Tộc, nếu muốn ngay lập tức thoát ra khỏi vòng tròn Linh đạo, sẽ chỉ sống được đúng 1460 chu trình.
Trong khoảng thời gian ấy, dáng vẻ họ biến đổi rất nhanh. Thoắt chốc ngàn nếp nhăn trên da thịt được kéo căng, bao bọc gọn ghẽ một cơ thể sung mãn. Rồi những khung xương dần trẻ hóa và co rút lại theo sự thúc ép của lớp chất hữu cơ quấn chặt xung quanh. Thể xác vốn được hun đúc từ lửa, khi tụ hình trong bầu không khí tròn vạnh vạnh của Linh tộc sẽ cô đọng lại để đến cuối hóa thân thành tinh thể nước.
Đời sống của Linh nhân cơ bản là hai yếu tố đối lập nhau, nhưng đường đời ấy không thể uốn cong lại, kết dính hai thái cực Lửa – Nước hợp nhất, để tuần hoàn cho một sinh mệnh. Nó chỉ đơn giản là một đoạn vô hình thẳng tuột, dốc nghiêng xuống điểm chết, mà độ Ngắn – Dài phụ thuộc hoàn toàn ý chí điều khiển đôi chân bước đi trên vòng tròn khổng lồ được định mệnh sắp đặt cho chủng tộc của họ.
Định mệnh ấy chính là Linh đạo, được chia thành 90 chặng, đánh dấu bởi các Phách Quan có tác dụng ngăn chặn sự trẻ hóa và gia tăng thêm một chu trình sống cho bất cứ Linh nhân nào bước qua. Mọi Phách Quan là một chiều, không thể đi ngược trở lại, vì đó thực sự là những cánh cửa vô hình khi đã vượt qua lớp màng không gian ảo diệu. Điện thờ Băng Linh và Hỏa Linh chính là hai Đại Phách Quan bởi có ý nghĩa mấu chốt cho sự ly sinh và tái sinh của Linh tộc.
Bắt đầu từ con số 1460, cuộc đời mỗi Linh nhân là chuỗi cộng dồn những cố gắng đi ngược chiều quay của Linh đạo để bước được vào Phách Quan trước khi vòng vận hành tự nhiên kết thúc. Nếu chậm chễ, khi một chu trình qua đi, Linh nhân chưa qua nổi bất cứ cánh cổng ảo diệu nào, con số 1460 sẽ bị trừ một đơn vị, và phép trừ cứ thế tiếp tục để trẻ hóa hình thể đến tận lúc chết trong hình hài những giọt sương. Hoặc là ngăn chặn, bằng cách tiến thật nhanh về những Phách Quan, để cộng thêm cho tuổi thọ từng chu trình một. Chỉ là quy luật, không bất trắc nằm ngoài chủ ý, nên mỗi Linh nhân đều có thể đo đếm, tính toán thời gian sống chết của mình. Giống như Anme, với một quá khứ đã nỗ lực đi nhanh hơn tất cả mọi người, cô biết rõ mình còn tồn tại bao lâu trong Linh tộc nếu dừng lại. Tất nhiên là một quãng dài đủ thong thả cho việc tiễn biệt hoặc chào đón hàng trăm sinh mệnh nữa ở thế giới này.
Anme mơ hồ nhận biết còn có một sứ mệnh khác chờ đợi mình, nhưng cô không rõ đó là gì, và tất nhiên sẽ chẳng thể có bất cứ mô tả nhiệm vụ nào để hoàn thành sứ mệnh cả. Những gợn sóng khó nắm bắt luôn trồi sụt trong não trạng của Anme, không chịu tan biến, nên cô lại bắt đầu tìm kiếm lời giải bằng câu hỏi cũ:
- Tại sao chúng ta không có cha mẹ như giống loài trong thế giới ý niệm?
- Có khi nào chúng ta là những đứa con bị ruồng bỏ không? – Hoàng Minh đáp lời bằng một câu nghi vấn với vẻ lơ đễnh rồi nhìn về phía lớp màng Ảo diệu – Tôi nghĩ mình phải cố gắng đến được Phách quan thứ nhất trong vòng ba chu trình. Cô có muốn đi chậm lại cùng tôi không?
Anme không trả lời thành tiếng mà khẽ gật đầu, cô thực ra đang mải mê suy nghĩ đến ý tứ trong câu nói đầu tiên của Hoàng Minh. “Những đứa con bị ruồng bỏ” – có gì đó khớp cùng những thông tin rời rạc, luôn luôn mâu thuẫn với thực tại mà cô đã thu thập được trong suốt quá trình sống. Song dường như còn thiếu rất nhiều mảnh ghép, bức tranh bí ẩn này mới lộ diện.
Bước chậm theo phía sau Hoàng Minh, Anme nhìn những Linh nhân vội vã xuyên qua cánh cổng Ảo Diệu khổng lồ. Có đến hàng chục người đi qua cùng lúc, có đến hàng trăm người đang nối đuôi trong không gian điện thờ, vì toàn thể dân tộc – 99.990 người, đều luôn chung một tâm thế – thuộc sẵn về Linh đạo. Hoàng Minh, sau khi không mất chút sức lực nào để gia tăng thêm chu trình đầu tiên, sẽ phải chạy đua cật lực với con số 1461 bằng tuổi già chậm chạp, lấy bấy. Giống như Anme đã từng.
Có khi nào bí mật mình đang tìm kiếm sẽ là chiếc chìa khóa chấm dứt sự vận hành độc tôn này không? Anme thầm nghĩ và nhẩm tính đến số dư chu trình cô tích lũy dường như đã đủ để phung phí cho bất cứ sứ mệnh lớn lao nào.
Chỉ e, một người dư thừa thời gian đi chăng nữa nhưng vẫn không đủ năng lực thực hiện những việc nằm ngoài giới hạn của bản thân, thì cũng vô nghĩa hoàn toàn.
