Em gái gọi điện cho mình, hỏi vay 15 triệu. Mình nói trong cơn ngủ chưa muốn tỉnh:
- Vay tới khi nào trả?
- Trong vòng 3 năm sẽ trả hết! – Em gái nhanh nhảu.
- Ủa mà vay tiền làm chi zạ?
- Em mua xe ga như của chị. Có một bà mới đi 2 năm, cái attila màu đen…
- Chị không cho em vay được! – Mình bắt đầu tỉnh táo.
- Cho vay đi mà… Đi… Đi… – Em gái năn nỉ, hối thúc…
- Không có đi đâu hết! Em không đủ tin tưởng để chị cho vay.
- Chị nói chuyện với mẹ nhé!
Vậy là em gái chuyển ống nghe cho mẹ.
- Con cho em nó vay tiền đi, chị V. nói bạn chị ấy đang muốn bán cái xe như của con, nghe nói là mới đi có 2 năm…
- Con không thể cho vay, và mẹ cũng đừng chiều chuộng nó quá! Thế thôi ạ!
Dĩ nhiên là mình cúp máy. Dĩ nhiên là mình biết em gái sẽ lại than thở với mẹ về cái sự vô ích khi có một bà chị như mình. Dĩ nhiên là họ cũng chẳng gọi lại năn nỉ mình lần nữa. Vì quá biết tính mình lạnh lùng và kiên quyết như thế nào rồi.
Để quyết định bỏ 15 triệu ra làm điều gì đó, hoặc là rất dễ dàng, hoặc là không bao giờ. Đối với mong muốn của em gái, mình đã chọn KHÔNG so với việc chịu khó bấm vài thao tác trên ATM để giảm ngân khoản xuống một phần.

Mình nhớ…
Mình đã chẳng ngần ngại ra tiệm vàng mua một cái nhẫn 2 chỉ cho mẹ vào tháng tư năm ngoái, khi không đeo vừa cái nhẫn của mình. Vì mình thấy mẹ thích, đơn giản vậy thôi.
Mình đã chẳng ngần ngại để mẹ cầm gần hết số tiền mình dành dụm được để về Bắc vào dịp 1/5, khi mẹ không chịu nổi kiếp sống thuê trọ chật chội, khốn khổ, cực nhọc tại Sài Gòn. Đến mức sau khi mẹ về được vài tuần, mình chuyển chỗ trọ, chủ nhà yêu cầu đặt cọc 3 triệu mà mình vét hết tiền trong tài khoản cũng không đủ.
Mình đã chẳng ngần ngại tháo 4 chỉ vàng trên tay ra cho mẹ vào đầu tháng 12 năm rồi, khi tiện thể đi công tác Hà Nội rồi về thăm nhà. Ngoài ra mình còn cho mẹ thêm tiền mặt nữa.
Và mình cũng đã không ngần ngại nói rằng nếu mẹ muốn đưa hài cốt anh mình về quê thì cứ vào, mình sẽ cho 10 triệu để thực hiện mong muốn của mẹ. Ông già mình thăm dò mọi thủ tục và thuê người đào mộ chỉ mất 2,8 triệu thôi. Và mẹ nói tháng 10 mới vào, vì ngoài Bắc không được cải mộ vào mùa xuân.
Tất cả những điều đó chỉ mới xảy ra trong vòng một năm thôi. Nhưng mình chẳng quên điều gì cả, dù cho là trước đó một năm, năm năm hay mười năm, thậm chí từ khi mình bắt đầu biết tiền có quyền năng gì, thì mình cũng đã không hề quên những gì đáng phải nhớ.
Khi mình mới tốt nghiệp ĐH, nghĩa là 22 tuổi, mẹ nói: “Tao nuôi mày ngần ấy năm thì chỉ cần mày tính ra trả tao mỗi ngày năm nghìn là được”. Phép tính 22năm x 365ngày x 5nghìn cho mình kết quả: 40.150.000VND. Nếu vậy thì mình e là đã trả dư cho mẹ rồi.
Mẹ nuôi mình không có tốn kém như con người khác.
Suốt 4 năm ĐH, mình sống xa nhà, mẹ tính số tiền cho mình (trong đó có cả 6 triệu để mình mua chiếc xe Dream china đầu tiên trong đời) chưa tới 15 triệu. Thỉnh thoảng mình nổi hứng còn gửi về cho mẹ vài trăm khi mình đi làm thêm dư dả tiền bạc.
Hầu hết những năm Cấp 3 (trừ khi vào 12, phải chuẩn bị thi ĐH), mình có lo học đâu. Cắm mặt đi làm thêm để tháng có được khoảng 300K, cho mẹ một nửa, còn một nửa đóng học và sắm đồ. Hậu quả giờ mình vẫn mang trên gương mặt đó thôi. Răng mình bị hô một cách kinh khủng khi dùng để cắn giấy kẹo gói cho nhanh, để được nhiều tiền bằng những người ngồi làm cả ngày.
Cả thời Cấp 2, mình luôn là người đạp xe 6-7km lấy hàng về cho mẹ buôn bán. Nếu mình không đi học, thì mình ngồi trông quán luôn. Chắc người làng mình vẫn nhớ, chân mình chưa chạm được hết peđan khi ngồi trên yên xe mà chở sau lưng can nước mắm 20L to vật vã. Khi mẹ không bán hàng nữa thì luôn bắt mình ra đồng làm đổi công cho người ta, để lúc nhà có việc họ còn giúp lại.
Hồi Cấp 1 mình cũng luôn phải trông quán khi mẹ đi vắng, không thì lang thang vào rừng hái đót, cắt lá chè già đem bán lấy tiền. Chứ có chơi không như con nhà người ta đâu.
Vậy mà…
Khi mình khoảng 12 tuổi mẹ đã thôi không muốn mua quần áo cho mình nữa. Với lý do:“Mày khó tính bỏ cha, mua cái gì cũng chê xấu!”. Mỗi năm mẹ quăng cho mình một lần tiền vào dịp gần tết để tự đi sắm đồ mới. Số tiền đó đủ mua một bộ quần áo ngoài chợ. Mình muốn có thêm đồ, phải tự lấy quần áo cũ của mẹ, tự đo, tự cắt, tự khâu thành quần áo mới mà mặc. Hàng xóm phải bảo: “Nuôi con bác nhàn nhỉ? Chẳng đòi hỏi chuyện ăn uống, quần áo thì toàn tự khâu lấy…”. Cho mình ăn cơm không với mắm cũng xong bữa. Hình như cả thời thơ ấu mình chỉ gắn liền với rau muống. Sau này có đứa bạn chuyên nghiên cứu về sinh – hóa nói trong rau muống có chất kích thích tăng trưởng tối đa mình mới biết vì sao mình cao được tới tận 1,68m. Vậy là mình thầm cảm ơn mẹ vì đã không thể cho mình ăn uống sung sướng như người khác.
Mẹ nói, mình vẫn sướng hơn bao nhiêu đứa trẻ hàng xóm. Chúng nó bị ngược đãi, không được đi học, phải chăn trâu cắt cỏ suốt ngày. Nhà mình không có trâu bò, chỉ có lợn thôi. Những lúc mình hì hụi nấu cám, xách nước tắm cho chúng và ngồi riết trong chuồng thì có ai nhìn thấy đâu. Nên mình nhàn hạ hơn con hàng xóm là đúng rồi! Nhưng đôi lúc mình đã tự hỏi những đứa trẻ đó có bao giờ bị cha mẹ đánh mà dân làng xúm đông xúm đỏ vào xem và bàn luận? Còn chuyện đó xảy ra thường xuyên ở sân nhà mình. Hầu như là mỗi ngày, thậm chí có ngày hai, ba lần, vì lúc nào cũng có chuyện thú vị cho người ta xem cả. Có khi mẹ không thích dùng roi, hay là không nhớ là đã để nó ở đâu thì sẵn sàng dùng đòn gánh, cán dao, thùng nước để phang mình. Còn mình thì cứ đứng trơ ra với những vết hằn bầm đỏ hiện chi chít trên tay chân. Có khi nó còn tướt cả máu ra nữa cơ.
Mình là gánh nặng của mẹ khi tồn tại trên đời. Là một đứa trẻ hư, vì không bao giờ xin xỏ một câu khi bị đánh. Tệ hơn nữa là không chịu gào khóc khi bị đòn đau. Nên mẹ cứ phải đánh. Đánh cho mình chừa thói bướng, thích trêu gan khi nhìn thấy roi là ra giữa sân cho mẹ được thoải mái với cơn cáu giận. Mẹ đánh mình nhiều vì mẹ nói thương mình. Mình là khúc ruột của mẹ, đánh mình đau một thì mẹ đau mười cơ mà.
Có một lần ám ảnh mình mãi không thôi. Đó là một chiều hè khi mình chuẩn bị lên lớp 8. Mẹ đi mua sắm trên phố cả buổi đến khi về, thấy mình chưa kịp quét sân, mẹ chửi một chặp rồi lôi roi ra quất mình túi bụi. Xong xuôi, mình phải đi quét dọn sân vườn và nấu cơm. Thấy mẹ lôi áo mới ra mặc. Mẹ có 2 cái áo thun, một màu xanh, một màu trắng. Và mình không có cái nào cả. Mẹ không đả động gì đến mình cả. Nhưng mình thấy chạnh lòng ghê gớm. Mấy ngày hôm sau, mình đến nhà dì chơi. Đứa em hỏi: “Hôm nọ bác đi phố, lúc về ghé nhà em, nói mua áo mới cho chị, mặc đẹp không?”. Mình không nhớ đã trả lời sao, nhưng hẳn đã buồn rất lâu sau đó… hình như đến tận giờ vẫn rất buồn.
Mẹ luôn kể với họ hàng rằng mình hỗn láo, phá phách, mình là quỷ đầu thai vào nhà mẹ. Nên có lúc giận mẹ, mình chỉ bỏ ra nghĩa địa ngồi cả đêm, hay lấy dao cứa cổ và băm vào tay cho bắn máu ra, hoặc nhảy xuống giếng tự tử,… thì người ta nghĩ ngay là mình bị ma nhập. Có lẽ chỉ mỗi bản thân mình biết rằng những lúc đó mình hoàn toàn bình thường, chẳng có một thế lực hắc ám nào dẫn dắt. Nhưng, nói chung lại, dù mẹ đối xử với mình thế nào đi chăng nữa thì vẫn là mẹ rất thương mình. Vì mình vẫn là khúc ruột của mẹ. Làm mình xấu một, thì mẹ xấu tới tận mười còn gì.
Cách đây một năm, mẹ khóc và chì chiết rằng sao mình cứ mang nỗi oán hận gì đó với mẹ. Vì mình chỉ cố giải thích rằng mẹ sai khi đòi hỏi ông già bán nhà phải chia tiền cho. Mẹ nói mẹ không đòi cho mẹ, chỉ đòi cho mình và em gái. Đúng là mẹ thương mình thật sự. Đến lúc mình trưởng thành và không phải nhờ cậy ai thì mẹ vẫn rất lo cho mình.
Mình nghĩ cuộc đời này đã nợ mẹ thật nhiều, nên mình cố gắng trả. Bằng cách khi mới vào Sài Gòn, mình nhịn ăn nhịn mặc, ngoài bữa trưa được công ty bao mình toàn ăn mì gói để dành tiền gửi về cho mẹ. Lương mình hồi đó có 2 triệu, mà mỗi tháng gửi cho mẹ một triệu, triệu rưỡi là niềm vui và mục đích duy nhất của mình. Rồi có một người yêu mình, thấy mình vất vả quá, đã nhận thay cái trách nhiệm đó suốt một năm, cứ 2 tháng lại chuyển khoản cho mẹ mình 3 triệu. Cho đến khi mình được làm copywriter, lương mình cao lên, mình đủ sức tiếp quản lại niềm vui cũ, người ấy mới thôi. Và tất cả thay đổi khi mình đón mẹ vào ở cùng. Mẹ chỉ việc ngồi chơi thôi, nhưng mẹ không chia sẻ được cuộc sống của mình. Mẹ thấy khổ, thấy cực và mẹ đã bỏ về. Bằng chứng là mẹ nói ở với mình có hơn 2 tháng mà bị gầy đi mất ba, bốn ký. Từ đó mình mới không gửi tiền hàng tháng cho mẹ nữa. Song với những gì mình nhớ được ở trên, có ai nói rằng mình là kẻ hoàn toàn bất hiếu không?
Với tính ích kỷ, mình tự biết mình chẳng hiếu thảo như mong muốn của mẹ. Mình cũng tự nhận mình là một đứa con bất hiếu nên mới không hề quên tất cả những gì tốt và không tốt mẹ đã đối xử với mình. Thậm chí mình tỏ ra quá sòng phẳng khi tính toán điều nọ điều kia. Từ ngày mẹ tính ra số tiền mình phải trả, cũng chỉ chưa tròn được 4 năm mà mình thấy như đã hoàn thành. Mình không còn mục đích gì sống nữa. Mình sẵn lòng chết bất cứ lúc nào mà không hề tiếc công sinh dưỡng của mẹ. Người mẹ nào cũng thương con, hiển nhiên là mẹ thương mình rồi. Nhưng trong sâu thẳm, mình nghĩ nếu có kiếp sau, cũng không bao giờ mình mong muốn được làm con của mẹ nữa. Vốn dĩ ngay từ lúc mới sinh ra, mình cũng đã luôn tìm cách chết đi để thoát khỏi tất cả những điều liên hệ trên cuộc đời. Trong đó, mối liên hệ lớn nhất với mình… Là mẹ!
Nhiều người chết rồi vẫn lưu luyến dương gian, họ muốn được sống lại kiếp nữa, nên họ tính toán ngay lúc sống sao cho chết rồi vẫn giữ vẹn hồn phách. Thế là có nhiều cách táng. Lưu truyền nếu chết là đem thiêu là coi như tuyệt diệt tận gốc sự tồn tại của một người. Hỏa táng nghĩa là hết, sẽ không còn hồn phách để siêu thoát và đầu thai. Nếu điều này là thật, mình đã luôn mong muốn khi chết xác được đem thiêu, tro vứt đâu cũng được. Vì sống một kiếp này đã là quá chán nản với mình. Mong chi sống thêm kiếp nữa.
Song nếu tương truyền đó không có thật, người chết thiêu vẫn còn linh hồn và luân hồi lại những kiếp người khác. Thì mình cũng không bao giờ mong muốn gặp lại mẹ, cha hay em gái mình nữa.

Cha mình không tốt, ông để nợ cho quá nhiều người, nhưng mình xí xoá nên chẳng muốn nhắc gì. Vì mình chẳng sống với ông nhiều, ngoài việc sinh ra và bỏ rơi mình thì ông cũng chẳng đè thêm áp lực nào lên cuộc đời mình cả. Ký ức cũng chỉ là một vệt xám mờ phai.

Em gái thì biết nói sao đây nhỉ? Hiện tại mình không thích em gái. Trước đây mình cũng không thích em gái. Nhưng đã có thời mình nghĩ sẽ cố gắng yêu thương em, sẽ chăm lo cho em thay mẹ. Hồi đi học, mình chẳng có gì để tự hào với bạn bè ngoài việc học giỏi. Không có quần áo đẹp để khoe, không có xe đẹp để chảnh, không có di động để kẻ khác phải lác mắt… mình chỉ có một nỗi tủi thân âm thầm sâu kín…
Nên khi mình xa nhà, em gái mới 15 tuổi đã được mình gom tiền với tháng lương đầu tiên mua di động cho dùng. Một phần vì em gái ham chơi, đã đi là mất mặt không cách nào tìm nổi, nên có di động cho mẹ mình dễ quản. Phần nữa vì mình muốn em gái không phải chịu sự kém cỏi về vật chất so với bạn bè. Nhưng rồi em mình bỏ học năm lớp 10, dạt nhà vào Sài Gòn. Mình gọi điện liên tục không được, đến khi gặp hỏi, thì em mình tỉnh bơ nói: “Bán rồi, vì không thích dùng nữa!”. Em gái bán lấy tiền, chứ không phải là không thích.
Sống với mình gần nửa năm. Mình nuôi em gái ăn ở gần hết, dẫn đi mua cả một đống đồ. Vậy mà khi mẹ vào sống cùng, mình nhờ em gái lấy giùm một cái gì đó. Em gái phụng phịu không chịu làm, mình cáu, làm mặt giận thì em gái phũ phàng nói với mẹ:“Bả có nuôi được ngày nào đâu mà đòi sai bảo…”. Em mình còn trẻ người non dạ, lẽ ra mình không được trách móc. Nhưng mình giận đến tận bây giờ. Vì mình ghét sự vô ơn. Mình tính toán với tất cả, người nhà cũng như người ngoài. Như với cô ruột mình, hồi mới vào Sài Gòn, mình sống nhờ nhà cô gần một tháng, rồi sau đó cô cho mình ở ké trong cái nhà kho hoang vắng, chật hẹp khoảng ba tháng nữa. Thế mà tết năm nào mình cũng bỏ bao lì xì ít nhất một triệu biếu cô, coi như trả ơn. Mình dự tính sẽ làm điều đó một năm nữa thôi. Rồi sẽ chẳng bao giờ xuất hiện trước mặt cô nữa. Mọi chuyện đã đủ thì sẽ cắt đứt hoàn toàn, vì cô cũng chẳng nghĩ tốt đẹp về mình, thấy trai tán tỉnh mình nhiều, nên suy diễn ra rằng mình làm được nhiều tiền là do trai bao không à. Mình vừa già, vừa xấu, vừa hay xỏ xiên, chọc ngoáy người khác, thì trai nào nó dám bỏ tiền ra cung phụng mình chứ? Nếu có ý định đó đi chăng nữa, thì chẳng trai nào vượt qua được sự ngần ngại khi tiếp cận một đứa con gái thích khoe khoang những thứ được nhận và kể lể những cái phải trả trong đời như mình.
Em gái đã từng có cơ hội làm cho mình yêu thương. Nếu em gái ngoan chắc mình cũng sẽ hết sức cống hiến tiền bạc để mong cuộc sống em ấy tốt hơn mình, sung sướng hơn mình, hạnh phúc hơn mình. Song em gái đã đánh mất cơ hội đó. Khiến mình chỉ thấy em gái tráo trở và ỉ nại.
Ngày mình mua chiếc Attila… Lobby cả năm trời mẹ mới cho mình vay thêm 10 triệu. Mẹ cứ cằn nhằn sao mình đua đòi mua chiếc xe vừa mắc tiền vừa tốn xăng như vậy. Nhưng mình thích xe ga, nên mình mua thôi. Mình vay tiền được, vì mình có khả năng trả đủ sau chưa đầy một năm. Và giờ đến em gái…
Mình không hiểu sao mẹ có thể cổ động mình cho em gái vay tiền khi nó chưa tròn 18 tuổi. Và tại sao mẹ dễ dàng cho nó đổi xe khi nó đã có một chiếc wave đỏ choé để chạy lông rông ngoài đường. Bằng tuổi nó, mẹ cho mình được những gì ngoài những cái thiết yếu của một đời sống nghèo khổ? Bù lại mình luôn phải đáp ứng những đòi hỏi khắt khe của mẹ về chuyện học, chuyện làm, chuyện kiếm tiền… Mình chẳng biết mẹ có đánh nó bao giờ không, nhưng khi mình chỉ mới hằm mặt lại với nó là mẹ đã vội bênh: “Em nó còn nhỏ!”. Nó học dốt nhất lớp mẹ có dám cằn nhằn câu nào? Nó đi chơi suốt ngày mẹ có dám quát mắng? Nó bỏ học mẹ chỉ biết khóc than, nó xin tiền mẹ chỉ biết cắn răng cho… mẹ không dám làm gì nó, như đã từng hành xác mình, vì động tý nó rớm nước mắt ra khóc lóc dằn dỗi. Còn mình, mẹ có thể đánh đập mỏi tay, đay nghiến mỏi miệng chỉ vì mình không chịu khóc sao? Quả là mẹ thương mình nhiều hơn em gái, nên mẹ mới cho mình nhiều roi vọt. Em gái bị mẹ ghét nên mới cho ngọt cho bùi như thế chăng?
Em gái chưa đủ 18 tuổi, nhưng đã dám quyết định nhiều điều: Chuyện bỏ học, chuyện đi làm, chuyện yêu đương và chuyện nói mà không cần biết có đang làm người khác tổn thương. Mình không thích em mình như thế, nhưng nhiều cô bé còn teen thì lại tỏ rất ngưỡng mộ em gái mình. Các cô ấy nói rất phục những người dám sống như thế. Các cô ấy quen phụ thuộc, phải sống vì rất nhiều điều ràng buộc, nên thấy em gái mình dũng cảm tung hê tất cả mọi thứ, thì các cô ấy lại rất khát khao được sống là chính mình như vậy. Mình cũng sẽ ngưỡng mộ em gái, nếu như em ấy đừng mang trong lòng thói ỉ nại và nghĩ rằng sẽ dựa dẫm vào mình để có được những thứ vật chất đắt tiền cho thiên hạ lác mắt. Em gái đã dám sống như thế thì sao lại có ý định nhờ vả mối quan hệ chị em để kiếm cho mình những giá trị phù phiếm nhỉ? Trong mọi suy nghĩ, mình không bao giờ muốn em gái dựa vào mình hay bất cứ ai khác. Hãy cứ sống như cách em ấy đập phá cái nền móng tốt đẹp người ta cố gắng tạo dựng lúc em còn non nớt để khi đủ tuổi thì dư sức lao vào đời.

Dù đã 27 tuổi rồi, nhưng mình không thể nào bỏ được cái thói ghen tỵ, ghen với cả quá khứ lẫn hiện tại. Và vì mình đã quen tự lập, nên không muốn bất cứ ai dựa dẫm vào mình. Khi mình hào phóng đưa tiền vàng biếu mẹ, thì mẹ gợi ý mình phải cho cả em gái nữa. Mẹ kể em gái vẫn thường than: “Có chị làm ra nhiều tiền mà chả cho em được đồng nào!”. Mình ghét thói suy nghĩ đó kinh dị. Cảm giác như là bị hút máu. Vật ký sinh có bao giờ đối tốt với thân xác mình sống nhờ?
Ngay cả khi còn là đứa con phụ thuộc tất cả vào mẹ, có bao giờ mình ngồi trông chờ mẹ phải cho mình cái này cái khác không? Hay là lăn lưng đi kiếm tiền để khỏi phải xin tiền mẹ, khỏi phải nghe mẹ ca cẩm mình là của nợ, là gánh nặng, là sai lầm, là quỷ đầu thai…? Ngay cả khi mẹ nói mình mở miệng xin tiền ông già hồi mới vào ĐH để giảm gánh nặng cho mẹ, thì mình có ngồi im đợi ông gửi tiền hoặc oán hận vì ông đã không gửi tiền không? Hay là mình an ủi mẹ rằng đừng lo lắng nhiều, mình sẽ đi làm thêm tự nuôi thân, nếu không sẽ cố gắng học giỏi lấy học bổng?
Mình có biết trông chờ ai ở cuộc đời này không? Trước đây và về cả sau này. Những khi mình vét hết tiền ra cho mẹ, có bao giờ mẹ nói lại được một câu: “Con giữ lại đi! Sống xa nhà đề phòng lúc ốm đau cấp bách…”. Mẹ chỉ biết tươi cười nhận hết và mình đánh đổi khoảnh khắc vui vẻ chốc lát đó của mẹ bằng những tháng ngày lo lắng và chạnh lòng. Có lúc mình gợi ý bằng những câu chuyện đơn giản: “Con mới đi thăm bạn bị mổ ruột thừa về. Tự nhiên nghĩ mình mà lên cơn đau như thế và phải nhập viện thì sẽ chẳng biết cậy ai cả!”. Mẹ không an ủi, mẹ thản nhiên: “Mày còn trẻ thế, lo bệnh tật gì? Tao già rồi mới phải lo chứ!”. Cả thời khoẻ khoắn, mẹ dành thời gian nuôi nấng và đánh đập mình, mẹ kiệt sức nhiều lắm, còn mình thì miễn nhiễm với đau đớn. Nên sao phải lo cho mình?
Mình không thích làm mẹ. Vì hình ảnh người mẹ trong mình không hề thân thiện, gần gũi, ấm áp hay yêu thương… Cũng giống như một sự tạo nghiệt từ quá khứ mà kẻ vô can thứ ba phải gánh chịu. Mình không muốn mình được sinh ra trên đời, ý muốn đó là của mẹ. Nếu được lựa chọn từ lúc chỉ mới là linh hồn, mình hy vọng mẹ giết mình đi ngay từ khi chưa có cảm xúc về đời. Nên đương nhiên mình ghét bỏ cuộc sống này. Mà cuộc sống của mình bắt nguồn từ mẹ…
Mình không thích có con. Vì lo sợ mình cũng lại sẽ tạo nghiệt lên một cuộc đời vô can thứ ba. Khi mình không đủ sức yêu thương và cho nó một cuộc sống đáng để sống. Nó cũng sẽ lại quát vào mặt mình: “Ai bảo mẹ sinh con ra!”. Rồi nó tìm cách tự tử khiến mình dằn vặt đau đớn… Mẹ nói mình chưa làm mẹ nên mình sẽ chẳng thể nào hiểu những nỗi khổ mẹ phải chịu đựng. Nhưng mình đã được làm con, nên mình biết những đứa con cũng khổ với cha mẹ như thế nào. Mình không muốn giống mẹ một chút nào. Song theo diễn trình xã hội thì mình càng tránh né sẽ lại càng giống mẹ mình. Những điều ở mẹ sẽ lặp lại ở mình, cũng như nỗi oán hận của mình sẽ lại được chuyển giao cho con mình.
Nên dù đã 27 tuổi, mình cũng vẫn không thích làm mẹ và cũng chưa từng thích được làm con. Mình ích kỷ với tất cả, giản đơn là mình đã không có gì để hào phóng ban tặng cho đời. Mình chỉ có một tâm hồn méo mó và khuyết tật cần được bù đắp cho tròn trịa, chứ không phải là cấu xé nó ra để phân phát cho chỗ này chỗ kia. Mình có một gia đình, song có bao giờ cảm nhận được điều đó rõ rệt?
Nếu hỏi mình yêu mẹ không? Mình trả lời: Sống là để trả nợ mẹ!
Nếu hỏi mình yêu ba không? Mình trả lời: Đã xí xóa hết những gì ông nợ rồi!
Nếu hỏi mình yêu em gái không? Mình trả lời: Mặc kệ cuộc sống của em ấy!
Như vậy mình có chút nào yêu gia đình đâu! Bởi thứ tình yêu đó không hề tồn tại. Nếu có thì tất cả mọi người đều phải nhận ra và yêu thương hơn rồi, chứ không phải là để ngày càng xa cách nhau như vậy. Tình yêu không hiện hữu nhưng là một thứ rất dễ cảm nhận, khi có trái tim và tấm lòng… Con tim mình bị vô cảm, tấm lòng mình bị phong kín, vì tất cả những tháng ngày đã qua suốt 27 năm ròng…
Và nếu hỏi mình có yêu bản thân không? Mình trả lời: TỪNG NGÀY SỐNG LÀ MONG ĐƯỢC CHẾT!

Khi nào thật vui cô thường nói với tớ :”Hình như mẹ không thương em. Không riêng em mà hình như cả D và T cũng vậy, nhưng riêng em là ít được thương nhất”. Cô là con gái đầu, cùng với mẹ qua tất cả những khó khăn, bi đát của một số phận đàn bà mà có thể dựng thành phim ko cần hư cấu.
Trên cô là người anh trai nuôi mà chỉ mình cô biết được thân phận. Đời anh B cũng qua hầu hết các dập vùi mà một thanh niên cùng thời có thể trải : đi lính, đào ngũ, lao công đào binh chiến trường, nghiện xì ke, rồi rượu. Anh có người yêu trẻ hơn một tuổi và để chị chờ hết tuổi xuân. Năm 36 tuổi anh quen và mẹ cưới cho anh chị U vừa tròn 18 tuổi. Anh chị có hai sạp hàng ở chợ BT, tronng 5 năm anh phá nát cả hai. Thời gian sau chị U cương quyết đòi ly dị dù mọi người thuyết phục cỡ nào, ko phải vì chuyện làm ăn thua lỗ (vì đã được cấp vốn mới với việc làm mới), nhưng vì cách anh ấy sống với vợ con. Mẹ và các chị em gái khuyên giải chị U vì vị trí của mình, chứ thâm tâm như lời mẹ nói :”Không thể sống được với thằng này”.
Nhưng mẹ thương anh B nhất nhà. Căn nhà của mẹ (vốn là của cô dành dụm mua cho) chia đôi cho anh B và em trai út, con gái khỏi. Lo từng bữa ăn, cái mặc. Đến trước lúc mất mẹ vẫn ko muốn tiết lộ thân phận anh B. Cô phải thuyết phục mãi rằng cậu mẹ đã có các con hương khói, cháu K cũng cần phải biết gốc gác của nó để còn giỗ lạp cho ông bà, mẹ mới kêu các con tập trung về cho mẹ công bố.
Khi mẹ còn sống, chỉ những lúc thật vui các chị em mới dám phân bì với anh B. Mẹ cười và đăm chiêu :
- Các con nói vậy cũng đúng nhưng mẹ lo cho cha con nó. Tụi con học hành tới nơi tới chốn, nhà cửa, vợ chồng con cái, công việc làm ăn đề huề. Số nó khổ : hồi trẻ thì lính tráng, tù tội, may trời cho còn sống, lớn thì làm ăn lụn bại, vợ bỏ, …

- Nên mẹ mới nói số nó khổ.
