“Tôi càng nghĩ, có lẽ Phật Pháp là biện pháp nhiệm màu nhất giúp mỗi con người cân bằng, để có thể tránh được cảm giác chán nản, bất lực và muốn chết. Phật pháp là cứu cánh cho mỗi người dân, mỗi chúng sinh. Và trách nhiệm hoằng pháp của chúng ta ngày càng lớn lao và cấp bách.
Tôi đọc bản thảo cuốn sách “Muốn chết” của nhà văn Đỗ Thị Thùy Linh (với bút danh KENG) – một nhà văn trẻ thuộc thế hệ 8x. Đây là tác phẩm văn học và tôi tò mò tại sao “Muốn chết” lại là cuốn sách mà các bạn trẻ chờ đợi từ lâu của văn học mạng.
Tôi luôn suy nghĩ: tại sao các bạn trẻ lại mong đợi cuốn sách này chứ không phải cuốn “Muốn sống” hay“Muốn hạnh phúc”. Chính sự tò mò này làm cho những người lớn như tôi phải đọc. Đọc để biết và để hiểu. Ít nhất là hiểu tâm lý các bạn trẻ và rất trẻ.
Quả thật là cuốn sách gây chú ý ngay từ trang bìa đến mỗi câu chuyện, mỗi đoạn văn bên trong. Tác phẩm này hình như là để gửi đến những bậc phụ huynh bất lực trong việc dạy con.
“Muốn chết” hình như muốn chia sẻ với những ai đã từng khóc vì cha mẹ mình. Cuốn sách không chỉ dành cho con cái và cả cha mẹ, ông bà, cả những người anh, người chị. Và cả các thầy cô giáo nữa!
“Muốn chết” thực chất là ký ức rời rạc của một người sắp chết, được xây dựng trên một kết cấu rất lộn xộn đan xen giữa tương lai, hiện tại, quá khứ gần, quá khứ xa của nhân vật chính – một cô gái có tuổi thơ bị bạo hành – pha trộn với cuộc đời của những người liên quan khác…
Những ký ức không dễ đọc. Những đoạn viết không dễ cảm thụ. Nhất là những phật tử không còn nhỏ tuổi như tôi
Khi đọc cuốn sách tôi dừng ở từng đoạn xem tại sao lại “muốn chết”. Liệu những ai đang đọc có trở nên không muốn chết nữa và muốn sống ngay lập tức hay không. Không những vậy mà phải sống như thế nào cho đúng, cho phải đạo, cho thành người tử tế.
Trước khi gõ những dòng chữ này tôi tình cờ tìm thấy báo cáo công bố mới mấy ngày trước đây của Bộ Y tế và Phúc lợi Hàn Quốc cho biết tỷ lệ người tự tử ở đây trong năm 2009 lên mức cao nhất trong số các quốc gia thuộc OECD – 15.413 người. Thử làm bào toán chia đơn giản ta sẽ thấy mỗi ngày trung bình ở Hàn Quốc có đến 42 người tự tử khi đang ở độ tuổi từ 10-40.
Tôi giật mình khi nghĩ đến xử sở Kim chi, một quốc gia có nền kinh tế phát triển hơn Việt Nam mà cứ một trăm ngàn người thì có đến 28 người chết do tự tử, tỷ lệ cao nhất trong số 33 thành viên của OECD. Một thông tin và một con số nữa cũng làm cho tôi và thậm chí các bạn giật mình: Người tự tử ở độ tuổi 20 chiếm đa số với 44,6%.
Tôi đang tìm một con số chính thức xem ở nước ta, số người muốn chết là bao nhiêu. Tôi tin rằng con số này ở Việt Nam chắc chắn phải thấp hơn nhiều. Ta phải biết để bàn bạc, tìm cách hạn chế hiện tượng tự tử.
Tại sao nhiều người muốn chết thế? Và liệu nguyên nhân có phải là chữ “Khổ” trong tứ diệu đế mà Đức Phật đã chỉ ra? Nguyên nhân có phải là sức ép qua lớn đè lên đôi vai, đôi chân chưa vững, lên trái tim, khối óc vốn còn quá non của những bạn trẻ. Liệu có phải do các em không tìm thấy niềm vui, sự bình an trong cuộc sống? Phải chăng do các em chưa có chỗ dựa, không biết nương tựa vào đâu?
Tự sát là vấn đề nghiêm trọng của xã hội. Rất nghiêm trọng là khác. Ngăn chặn cảm giác muốn chết là trách nhiệm của cả quốc gia: từ chính phủ đến các địa phương, từ gia đình đến nhà trường, từ lãnh đạo đến nhân viên.
Tôi càng nghĩ, có lẽ Phật Pháp là biện pháp nhiệm màu nhất giúp mỗi con người cân bằng, để có thể tránh được cảm giác chán nản, bất lực và muốn chết. Phật pháp là cứu cánh cho mỗi người dân, mỗi chúng sinh. Và trách nhiệm hoằng pháp của chúng ta ngày càng lớn lao và cấp bách.
Cứ nghĩ đến đất nước Hàn Quốc có nền kinh tế như vậy mà số lượng người dân muốn chết và tìm đến tự sát tăng gấp đôi (từ 7.056 người tức 19 người/ngày) của năm 1999 lên 15.413 người tức 42 người/ngày của năm 2009 mà tôi đau nhói lòng. Trong 10 năm lượng tự sát tăng gấp đôi.
Và tôi chợt nhớ đến 1 con số của Việt Nam ta: mỗi ngày có 33 người sáng ra khỏi nhà mà tối không về nhà nữa: chết vì tai nạn giao thông. May thay, đợt này Bộ Công an làm mạnh chuyện phạt nặng những ai vi phạm luật, nhất là uống bia rượu khi lái xe.
Một thông tin mà tôi biết chắc chắn: Hàn Quốc đang bị các đạo khác lấn tới, rất nhiều người dân ở xứ sở Kim chi này đang “bị” cải đạo.
Khá nhiều phật tử đã và đang bỏ đạo Phật. Và tôi xót thương khi đã từng đọc bài viết về một nhà sư xuất gia đã không tìm thấy chỗ nương thân cho chính mình khi quay lại quê mình, tại chính đất nước Hàn Quốc này.
Biết ơn Đức Phật ra đời! Biết ơn con đường sáng là Ngài đã chỉ dạy cho chúng con. Nhờ ngài mà phật tử chúng con khác các chúng sinh khác: thấy được ý nghĩa của cuộc đời và không có cảm giác muốn chết.”
