Sự thực tôi từng thích anh ta điên cuồng. Đến mức tôi đã ngủ với anh ta. Một đêm duy nhất – Không bao cao su, không thuốc tránh thai và không cả tương lai. Chỉ còn lại hậu quả vương lên một sinh mệnh khác – tôi sẽ sinh con sau 8 tháng nữa – một đứa trẻ có khả năng không bao giờ biết đến cha ruột của mình.
Một tháng trôi qua sau lần cuối cùng tôi gặp anh ta, tình một đêm đọng lại trong tâm trí những băn khoăn và ứ lại nơi cơ thể một bào thai 6 tuần tuổi. Tôi nghĩ rằng sẽ không nói với anh ta bất cứ một lời nào về chuyện này. Dù tôi đã băn khoăn về việc có nên tiễu phẫu để xóa sạch dấu vết hay là quyết định sẽ giữ lại sinh mệnh mang giọt máu của anh ta bằng vẻ cứng cỏi không hối hận.

Con trai tôi ra đời, khô dần dây rốn trên chiếc giường anh ta đã ngủ lại đêm nào. Mẹ tôi ở quê vào chăm sóc cho khoảng thời gian ở cữ, hơi thở mẹ dài, mặt hằn những vệt ưu sầu. Mẹ từ lâu đã thích có một đứa cháu, giờ tôi sinh cho mẹ, nhưng thiếu đi một thằng con rể, nên mẹ chỉ còn nặng nỗi phân trần chưa thể giải thích khi nghĩ đến ngày trở về quê sống. Miền đồng thảo tôi đã trải qua thời thơ ấu, dọc những con đường hẩm hiu và trên khắp cánh ruộng bình lặng là định kiến nặng nề cho tất cả các điều trái lẽ. Dù cho từ đầu làng cuối xóm, mọi con người xa gần đều có mối liên hệ họ hàng với nhau, có thể chỉ pha chung một thứ máu đào lạt huyễnh, song không phải ao nước lã. Vậy mà tôi ấp ủ dự định, gửi con trai mình về quê cho mẹ nuôi dưỡng. Còn tôi tiếp tục với cuộc đời phiêu bạt tự do.
Mẹ tôi không biết cha của cháu ngoại là ai. Khi thằng bé tròn nửa tuổi, bà đem cháu về nhà chăm sóc – như cách đã nuôi tôi lớn thủa nào. Nhịp sống của tôi có ngàn triệu điều không phù hợp với khí chất gia đình. Tôi không thể làm một người mẹ tốt, mặc cho những tháng ngày mang bầu, tôi luôn nhủ thầm sẽ yêu thương con mình bằng tất cả trái tim.
Nhưng con tôi quá giống anh ta, trên từng đường nét của khuôn mặt. Tôi sợ rằng mình không thể yêu con bằng tình cảm đơn thuần của người mẹ, sợ rằng trong cách đối xử còn vương nhiều giận hờn chua chát vì thứ tình câm đã bị đoạn tuyệt bằng lạnh nhạt. Sau một đêm tình với tôi, anh ta ra đi từ sáng sớm, không một nụ hôn tạm biệt, không lời hứa gặp lại. Tôi đã từng ngồi chờ đến thẫn thờ bên chiếc điện thoại, để nhận lấy sự im lìm. Rồi tôi từng nhìn chăm chú vào cửa sổ Chat như bị thôi miên, chờ nickname anh ta nhấp nháy trên một cửa sổ con nói điều gì đó, vô nghĩa thôi cũng được. Song chỉ có một dòng tên luôn xạm màu. Tôi không ngốc đến nỗi chờ đợi mãi, chút nhạy cảm đủ để tôi nghi ngờ rằng anh ta đã permanently offline với mình và chút thông minh để tôi nhận ra sự thật khi kiểm tra bằng invisible scanner. Anh ta muốn quên tôi, xóa trắng mối liên hệ với tôi giữa cuộc đời này. Tôi không hiểu nguyên cớ. Tôi chỉ biết anh ta đã ngủ cùng mình, một cách bản năng nhất.
Tôi thực sự muốn được nuôi nấng con mình, gần gũi chăm sóc nó. Nếu như thỉnh thoảng có một người đàn ông gọi điện hỏi thăm, thỉnh thoảng ghé qua chơi, để tôi dệt dần tấm khăn tình cảm, quàng nhẹ lên vai kẻ không yêu thương mình thật lòng, rồi hẳn có lúc người lạ dửng dưng sẽ cảm nhận được hơi ấm. Nhưng trong tâm trí người đàn ông đó không hề có sự tồn tại của đứa trẻ, và nếu lỡ hay biết, anh ta sẽ coi đó là một điều phiền toái khủng khiếp. Nên chăng giữ một vùng trắng xóa về mối liên hệ với anh ta. Và tôi quên dần, chỉ còn lại những trách hận sâu thẳm.

Những người đàn ông đến với tôi, đều bỏ đi ngay sau lúc nghe kể về đứa trẻ. Họ từng thích tôi, nhưng không đến mức điên cuồng để chấp nhận sự xuất hiện của đứa bé trong mối quan hệ tình cảm cần sự cân bằng này. Tôi cũng không yêu họ nhiều đến nỗi quên đi sự tồn tại của con mình, hoặc che giấu về cuộc đời thiếu vắng yêu thương của nó. Có lẽ tôi không yêu con bằng yêu bản thân, nhưng nếu gạt đi được sự ích kỷ của mình, đứa bé là cả thế giới của tôi.

Mẹ tôi gọi điện bằng những câu chữ gấp rút, đứt đoạn. Tôi vội vàng về thăm con trai mình lần thứ 9 lệch ngoài kế hoạch kể từ ngày để mẹ một mình chăm sóc cháu. Cả gia đình nhốn nháo và âu lo vì căn bệnh bạch cầu tủy mới phát hiện ở đứa trẻ lên 5 đẹp đẽ như thiên thần. Nước mắt tôi không thể rơi mà ngập bao nỗi muộn phiền. Con trai tôi nhập viện, đau đớn gầy mòn trên giường bệnh bởi những lần hóa trị. Tệ hơn nữa cháu mang trong mình loại máu hiếm Rh âm, sẽ rất khó kiếm đủ năm đến bảy đơn vị máu và bạch cầu truyền tiếp cho cháu sau mỗi lần truyền hóa chất. Cơ thể tôi có một nguồn máu bình thường, tạo hóa đã không để tôi có cơ hội hy sinh bất cứ điều gì cho con mình. Dẫu rằng tôi chán ghét cuộc sống đến mức mong mình chết đi để con trai khỏe mạnh cũng yên lòng. Bác sỹ khuyên tôi sớm tìm người để ghép tủy cho cháu. Ông nghĩ rằng bên nhà nội của cháu hẳn có người phù hợp.
Gần 6 năm qua đi, nét mặt người tôi từng thích đến điên cuồng đã phai mờ. Giờ tôi trở lại thành phố để tìm kiếm anh ta với hy vọng chữa khỏi bệnh cho con mình, mặc kệ lòng không hề muốn. Tôi biết nói sao với anh ta về nỗi đợi chờ nông nổi của mình? Rồi gia đình anh ta có bị xáo trộn bởi sự xuất hiện của đứa con trai không giá thú đang mắc bệnh hiểm nghèo? Những mặc cảm bị gạt hết đi, chỉ còn lại hình ảnh con tôi xanh xao trên chiếc giường bệnh, đôi mắt đau đáu ẩn chứa những trách móc nguyên thủy.
Đến giờ tôi mới biết trách bản thân mình sao quá vô tâm, tôi chỉ nhớ được duy nhất tên của anh ta, không dòng họ, không số điện thoại, không địa chỉ liên lạc. Trống hoác tâm hồn vì sai lầm thả trôi số phận của mình và con trai từ trong quá khứ. 6 năm trước, tôi chỉ gặp anh giữa một đám đông xa lạ pha trộn thực ảo, một vẻ đẹp lạnh lùng cuốn hút đã khiến tôi quên cả sự kiêu hãnh của mình. Rồi vài lần tôi chủ động hẹn hò online, điện thoại, một đêm nồng hơi men trong quán Bar, tôi rủ anh ta về căn nhà độc thân dù đầu óc vô cùng tỉnh táo. Tôi đã giăng một chiếc bẫy nhưng sau đó câm lặng nhìn con mồi bỏ đi. Cho đến tận giờ tôi vẫn không muốn mình là một kẻ mưu mô ghê gớm. Bởi tình cảm là thứ không cách nào gượng ép.

Lục lọi tất cả các mối quan hệ xưa cũ có chút kết nối với anh ta, tôi nhận được những cái lắc đầu bởi từ lâu họ đều chẳng nghe gì về con người đó nữa. Tôi sợ rằng anh ta đã chuyển đi nơi khác sống, hoặc tệ hơn, đã ra nước ngoài. Bất chấp mọi trở ngại, tôi phải tìm bằng được anh ta, vì con trai tôi không thể đợi chờ lâu hơn nữa. Tình cờ cũng bói ra một dòng địa chỉ, không phải của anh ta, nó chỉ là của một người họ hàng khá xa.
Người đó dẫn tôi đi thăm mộ anh ta dưới trời quầng quầng mây xám. Nấm mồ phủ đầy cỏ rêu, phơi qua bao mùa nhật nguyệt. Anh ta đã không còn trên cõi đời hơn 4 năm rồi, cũng căn bệnh giống con tôi, cũng loại máu hiếm, cũng không người thân nào có tủy tương thích… Anh ta chết khi con trai tôi chưa tròn tuổi. Niềm hy vọng tắt lịm, lồng lộng gió chướng thổi buốt những ngách sâu tâm hồn. Hóa ra tôi từng ôm nỗi oán trách với một người đã lìa dương thế suốt bao năm mà không hề hay biết. Tôi loang tràn nước mắt lên gò má, buông trôi nỗi tủi phận bấy lâu nay. Những hạt mưa lạnh nhẹ phủ xuống bờ vai tôi, khóc thương cho một cuộc gặp gỡ phụ tử sắp cận kề.

Tôi mang thi thể con trai chôn cất cạnh mộ người cha chưa từng gặp mặt. Ở cõi âm linh liệu họ có nhận ra nhau? Khi đã giải nghĩa được sự trốn tránh lạnh lùng thủa xưa, khi tất cả sáng tỏ, tôi chẳng còn có nổi yêu thương bên cạnh.
Những kẻ cô độc vốn không hề đáng thương. Giống như tôi, quá hoài nghi chuyện tình cảm bởi từng vấp váp sai phạm, bởi quá kiêu hãnh để hiểu rõ nguồn cơn, rồi chỉ biết âm thầm hành khổ bản thân và làm người muốn dành yêu thương cho mình bị tổn thương. Nếu như tôi vẫn dùng sự điên cuồng của mình để tìm đến anh ta sau thoáng lạnh nhạt, có lẽ đã không khiến con tôi phải sinh ra trong cuộc đời thiếu thốn tình thương và chịu đựng những đớn đau, khổ hạnh trước khi hóa thân làm hạt bụi như thế. Anh ta không đáng trách và con trai tôi thì có tội tình gì để phải gánh chịu mọi lỗi lầm từ kẻ đã đem cho nó một sự sống ngắn ngủi?
Mặt trời không còn mọc trên thế giới của tôi – nơi tôi lưu giữ hình ảnh người đàn ông chưa bao giờ nở nụ cười với mình, bàng bạc nét lạnh lẽo xa xôi – nơi máu thịt của tôi trong hình hài một bé trai 5 tuổi với ánh mắt đau đáu nỗi niềm: “Sao mẹ chẳng ở bên con? Sao mẹ đi biền biệt? Sao chỉ có bà ngủ với con mỗi tối?… Sao mẹ chẳng yêu thương khi con còn sống?”. Tôi sẽ cô độc đến hết đời, dành tất cả yêu thương muộn màng cho con trai mình bởi thoáng điên cuồng thời trẻ. Nhìn về phía sau, bước chân tôi kéo lê thể xác vào một miền u xạm.
Vẫn có thế giới cho kẻ cô độc không đáng thương chờ ngày đoàn tụ với tình yêu đã mất của mình – Một thế giới quạnh quẽ và dệt bằng nỗi yêu thương quá đỗi muộn màng.

Không khí truyện chìm trong tuyệt vọng, tình tiết khốc liệt (tuy căn bệnh khá phổ biến trong phim Hàn Quốc –nhưng bỏ qua), thể hiện thái độ quyết liệt và dứt khóat của tác giả đối với chủ đề.

“Luôn luôn lắng nghe, luôn luôn thấu hiểu”, “Yêu thương là cảm thông”, … đã trở thành những cliché, và đôi lúc còn được đem ra đùa tếu, nhưng đọc Keng mới thấy mình đang ở tầng nấc nào của quá trình giao tiếp, cảm thông và yêu thương. Truyện của Keng dẫn dắt vào những ngóc ngách mà sự hiểu biết lẫn nhau còn chưa vươn tới, hoặc bị ngăn cản, hay chỉ đơn thuần là sự cảm thông hồi giờ chưa đề cập ở nơi ấy.
Giá như “tớ” trong “Yêu, Làm Tình Và Ngủ” nói cho các người yêu của cô ấy ý thích của mình trong sinh họat tính dục, hay “tôi” trong “Yêu Thương Đã Muộn” bớt một chút giận dỗi liên lạc người tình một đêm sau tối ấy thì sao nhỉ. Hẳn là mọi việc sẽ theo chiều hướng tốt hơn, hay ít ra cũng làm cho hai nhân vật nữ đó bớt ấm ách.
Truyện của Keng thường súc tích, gợi/ nhắc nhớ nhiều vấn đề phải suy nghĩ. Còn nhớ lần đầu tiên đọc Dị Bản, đến câu “Em cũng đang cố gắng kiếm tiền… kiếm thật nhiều… để khỏi phải lấy chồng!” mình gần như bật cười vì câu đối đáp lém lỉnh, nhưng cảm giác thích thú tắt ngóm và mình sững sờ với ý nghĩ :”Phụ nữ, ngay cả một cô gái chịu chơi như Đan, ở thế kỷ XXI, vẫn còn lệ thuộc kinh tế vào người chồng thế này ư?”. Vậy thì ta đang ở đâu, thế kỷ XIX, XVIII chăng trong quá trình giải phóng phụ nữ?(dù mình ko thích Dị Bản bằng Tôi Là Les. Chuyện tình Tôi Là Les nhẹ nhàng, mỏmg manh như sương khói và thơ mộng; Dị Bản có thủ pháp dựng truyện phảng phất Xin Lỗi, Em Chỉ Là Con Đĩ…).
Tớ thật sự mong muốn “Không bao cao su, không thuốc tránh thai và không cả tương lai” trở thành khẩu hiệu khắp nơi.

Một ý nghĩa đã rất xưa cũ: nếu còn được ở bên nhau hãy cứ yêu thương hết lòng. Nhưng sao đọc truyện Keng viết lại vẫn thắt lòng xót xa. Thương những người đã chết và cả người đang chờ chết. Chẳng biết trách ai dù bi thương xuất phát từ những lỗi lầm.
